Reducing wasted sticker paper

Sticker paper costs much more than copy paper. Small layout changes can save a whole sheet in a run.

What actually helps

  1. Allow 90° rotation for designs that don't need to sit upright on the sheet. It gives the packer twice as many ways to fill gaps.
  2. Mix sizes on one sheet. Small stickers fill the gaps left by big ones. Add all your designs before arranging.
  3. Trim margins to what the printer needs. Find your printer's unprintable edge with a test print instead of guessing large margins.
  4. Use the smallest spacing you can cut reliably. See choosing spacing. Every millimetre counts once per row and column.
  5. Size for the sheet. If 4 columns of 46 mm fit but 4 of 48 mm don't, shrinking 2 mm can add a whole column.
  6. Turn off calibration marks after you've confirmed your print settings. They reserve a 56 × 11 mm strip on page 1.

Try it: how many fit?

This uses the same packing engine as the studio, running in your browser.

Count of stickers on one sheet, with bleed 0 and no calibration marks. Packing is a heuristic based on rectangular bounding boxes, so a cleverer arrangement may exist.
